ESRI has requested ADSBexchange.com remove the map tiles. Based on their sales executive's provided pricing, the cost to continue to use ESRI map tiles would total or exceed $57,000 a month....

Due to the amount of spammers and some very dedicated trolls that run my personal fan club, we've disabled automatic approval for new account registrations.

Forum now requires new users to be approved by one of the moderators.

New users will need to confirm their email then a moderator will approve the account. Process should be straight forward.

It's been a long time since I officially posted an announcement. I hope everyone is well and looking forward to a great 2021 and beyond. It's been a whirlwind of updates, new servers, much more code, and a lot of infrastructure changes. ADSBexchange.com now has over 6,000 feeders globally! Click the square with the lines to change the text for the aircraft.

On the right there is a new list of layers.

If they are tagged with (ADSBx) they are running off our MapProxy to be polite to those hosting the map tiles.

The reason VRS format TCP went away for the majority users was there was 350 'users' connected 24/7 365 days a year. Many were corporate, data center, commercial internet ip addresses, and there was too much abuse.

There were several ADS-B sites selling the aggregated data, selling services around ADSBx data, or just using the feed to promote their plane spotting site without crediting ADSBexchange.com or even asking to use it. None of them were...

I'm late on releasing the newest revision of the ADSBx custom image. Project creep and having to deal with a lot of of other updates this last 2 months really put a limit on how much time I had to devote to the image release. I think sometime in October will probably be when it's ready.

The code for 1.29 is stable now, and I'm not going to move to Raspbian Buster just yet. Raspbian...

MLAT zones 1 & 4A&B are currently MLAT down due to switching issue at data center. It's wide spread and they are fixing it.

I setup a discord server so people can communicate a little easier with each other. Keep it friendly as always and enjoy!

We use Discord because it is easy, free, and has a large user base already on it. ADSBx REST API servers now cache 10 second live data for most requests, and processes requests based on that memory cache. The idea is to reduce the request load on the servers by using in ram caching and some other tricks to serve the requests.

Theoretically we could build a live map with this one day.

I'm going to try an implement the useful VRS map filters as we build this out more.

All 30 servers will accept only 10 concurrent connections each. I've been experimenting with 50, 20, and finally trying 10. There may or may not be some slowness during peak times - though I think they should be able to serve responses 'faster' with less concurrency smashing CPU cycles.

This doesn't mean that only 300 people can view the map, it means the VRS web server will only have to deal with a constant 10 requests at a time...

ADSBx got a nasty surprise with Google Maps new pricing model. Google's new pricing increased the cost of Google Maps over 40x. That's a 4000% increase in the cost to use Google Maps!

Our bill went from $100-$175/month to $4040 for the first 3 weeks of September! Just 3 weeks.
