I've been researching 1090 cavity filters and know the Germans who have been reselling the Chinese stuff after QC for about $60 USD, plus some shipping cost. I've identified various sources for these and am in negotiation for specs and prices in various lot sizes. I need a cavity filter for what I believe may be the highest altitude feeder on ADSB-X. (10,000' AMSL) in a high RF environment. I've been talking with Jon, who managed to get 5 cavity filters for $200 delivered to Arizona, (Got your attention now Soylent James?) and he tested them. SEE: Nice filter for 1090 MHz ADS-B site | Wireless Jon (jonadams.com) for details. I'm going to buy at least 2 myself. Any interest?
Well, I found 2 good sources for 1090 cavity filters that are under $50. One looks identical to the ones the Germans are selling now for $53 plus another $45 for shipping to USA! That is stupid expensive. Here are a couple of pix of one prototype being tested. Any interest? Bueller?, Bueller?
Cool. Feel free to post a link to them. I'll buy a few to test. LOL at him caring about the bullshit dongle wagging boards at FlightAware. People are silly and stupid while Raytheon and FlightAware rape them all the way to the bank.
Hey James, How many you want? I've got 2 coming, and since these are just being made, I'll just add your order to mine to save on freight and possibly lower the price, which is $52 in sample quantities. Last quote for a lot of 20 was $50 and as low as $45 in 100 lots. I'm confused. Who cares about dongle wagging at FA? Certainly not me. Never been on those boards and only feed ADSBX. Anyone else want in on this buy?
The blog guy that wrote the blog you posted says: "It will be interesting to see how the coverage shapes out over the next few weeks – I hope that it will get up near the top of all the local receive sites in performance." Gotta climb those fake leader boards! We actually ordered some 1090 cavity filter samples from a Chinese Alibaba manufacturer - probably the same or similar. I'll ask Dan what he paid. I'm not sure you ordering then mailing to me in Arizona is going to save any money.
Ahh. Jon is a very serious RF guy. I do believe he feeds ADSBX as well. I forget his handle but I later realized I spotted him on the Discord server. If the group buy takes off, I can ship at cost of about $7 USPS Flat Rate. It's the international shipping cost I want to knock down.
BTW, Forgot to mention Jon paid $212 including freight for 5 of these, and that is what attracted me. He basically got them for $35 each plus frieght. Cheep Ya?
I've got 4 coming and have a UPS tracking number. I'm looking for a local ham or cell guy who has the rig to verify performance after receipt. They should be here next week. I also had them make 2 test samples of 978 filters and I got the test reports tonight. They look pretty good, especially because that are -60dB in the USA 960 band used for STL's and I have a line on a nice tower with multiple FMs and STLs. Roughly the same price as 1090 filters.
Yea! The Cavity filters are here! Local QC will happen next week with an Anritsu VNA. LMK if you want one.
