Hi everyone! I put up a basic full wave 1090mhz antenna on my roof at about 30 feet AGL. Looking for suggestions to further improve range with a preamp and filter. I'm already getting 200+ miles, trying to push it to 500 miles as a goal. Is it possible? currently using 25' of low loss cable RTL-SDR tuner full wave 1090 antenna James
Hi Visit http://www.heywhatsthat.com/ and generate your panorama. You'll see what can you reach . More than 350 NM is rather by accident. Marcin

So what you're saying is ... I'm there and optimal Realistically - line of sight at 37,000 feet should be 250 miles ... so in theory ... I'm not going to get much more but probably can clean up the reception.
Pre-amp LNA4ALL can be good choice. Or simply FA ProStickPlus, with pre-amp and filter. (cheaper than stick + pre-amp +filter).
I have a DIY COCO in the attic right now that made a big coverage difference over the 1/4 wave whip. I'm using this preamp and it made a "yuge" difference in plane count: http://a.co/9HjmXsh It's not a turnkey solution so you'll need to solder 12V power supply wires to the board. But the price is right.
