If a go to https://adsbexchange.com/myip/ everything seems to be working as it should and I have the green smiley faces for “Feeder connection” and “MLAT connection”. If I then clicking on “Ad-Free Feeder Global Map” the map comes up with a pop-up window on top with the title “Update Location?” and with the message “Use your device location to show a location marker?” If I click on “yes”, the pop-up window disappears but the map remains centered on NYC and if I scroll to my area there is no mark for my location. What am I doing wrong? As additional information, I can manually enter my location in a URL (https://globe.adsbexchange.com/?lat=XX.XXX&lon=-XX.XXX) and it relocates the map to my area, but there is still no marker even though I have the “Your position” and “Range ring” boxes checked. If I access the Pi through the browser (/tar1090), it has a marker and rings, but it only shows aircraft that my Pi can receive. I run the latest version of Firefox ESR and I have turned off all add-on extensions.
lat / lon is just where to put the view. SiteLat is what you want: https://www.adsbexchange.com/map-help/ The Update Location query should ask the browser for the location, you usually need to confirm the browser may give the site the location. But the browser also needs to know your location, maybe it just doesn't work for your browser / IP. Thanks for feeding and be sure to also check out good sync / no penalty on here: https://map.adsbexchange.com/mlat-map/ That still needs integrating into /myip ... hasn't been done yet.
I also tried it with a virgin install of Opera with the same results. It is obviously something at my end, but creating a bookmark for the toolbar using your suggestion in the first paragraph has solved my problem. I am not going to pursue it further. I am familiar with MLAT and check https://adsbx.org/sync/feeder.html?2A&MyPeerName from time to time to make sure everything seems fine with no Feeder Timeout Penalty. Thanks for your help.
