Hi there, I currently feed FA, FR24 and RB24 with data & MLAT and would like to feed ADSBx as I try to give a little back to those sites I use (I use OpenADSB on iPhone and just discovered the Aircraft Radar Skill for Alexa which I believe uses data from here) so want to setup my Pi to add a feeder for ADSBx. Now I have a perfectly working Pi and obviously don't want to upset anything that is already running so will not use the image but go down the script route so just wanted to run a few things past you guys here; 1. Is it a simple matter of running the two lines I see on the Share your data page under ADS-B/1090 Feeder Script? 2. Do I need any sort of license or registration/station number or anything? 3. I see references to setting Gain and inputting Lat/Lon but if that already exists in my dump1090-fa config I assume that stays as-is so no config changes to make? Anywhere? 4. I also see references to tar1090 but I have recently installed & set it up to work under FA so can I leave as-is to share or should I make a second install to use with ADSBx? 5. Should I install the Stats package and will that be exclusively for ADSBx? 6. Will the ADSBx stuff be checked and/or kept up to date every time I run apt update and apt full-upgrade or will I need to update separately using different commands? 7. Any other gotchas I need to be aware of? Thanks & kind regards, -=Glyn=-
Install once, it won't update with apt update ... not really necessary. Depends if you want the feed map, an online URL that will show your receiver sees Your local data is your local data .... the data doesn't change feeding it to different people. adsbexchange MLAT results will be added to that local data, you won't be able to tell them from the FA MLAT results. The feed client runs MLAT so that needs configuration configured precisely, the setup script will ask you for details. There can only be one decoder so how would gain have to do with feeding? Just a station name ... just do the setup script you'll see. Yes. After installing ... check these pages: http://www.adsbexchange.com/myip/ https://map.adsbexchange.com/mlat-map/ https://adsbx.org/sync/
Thanks for the replies wiedehopf as always but you should know me by now...nothing if not overly cautious before installing/updating anything and then wonder what all the worry was about after installation when everything still works! I'll give it a shot and follow up here after the event. Thanks & kind regards, -=Glyn=-
Well I penned a detailed reply but for the 3rd time in only 5 attempted posts the forum software insisted that; The following error occurred: Your content can not be submitted. I went through my post and deleted anything that I thought might trigger the warning including two links to no avail so I'll keep it short. Thanks very much wiedehopf for your help once again.
