Is it possible for an aircraft owner to have ADS-B active, but totally block the airplane from showing up on web sites such as adsbexchange and Flightradar24?

The blocking of certain aircraft is voluntarily supported by certain sites like FlightRadar24. There is no technological way to censor this information and ADSBx does not honor blocking requests.

Well I wouldn't say it's necessarily voluntary. Owners in the US can get on the "block list", anyone using FAA data (FA and FR24, et all) are required by the agreement with the FAA to block those who request it.

The catch is the FA FR24, etc all will also sell them a dashboard for hundreds and sometimes thousands a month. The cost is per aircraft per month.

If an FBO wants to track a plane, say an FBO in Burbank California the services someone's Gulfstream on the block list. The FBO must pay FA or FR24, at all, a $50-100+ monthly fee per aircraft.

Every single FBO must do this. As you can imagine it adds up to millions of dollars in revenue every month to hide this traffic from the average user of FR24 or FA, et all.

This is why FA is pushing so hard for NBAA rotating icao in the US and EU. There are millions and millions of dollars in recurring revenue on the table every month they are salivating to get.

And silly people continue to setup feeders to FA for the bullshit $89/value enterprise account all the while FA is making buckets of money off that feeder data AND obfuscating traffic.

That is exactly why I dumped my feed to them. They tried to tell me I got a free membership to the site. When I asked what it did for me, they really couldn’t make a good argument as to why I should feed them. I tried to explain that on their forums and got ostracized for making a statement about how they are making money off of each person that sends their feeds to them. They suck.

I’m curious why I don’t see any military aircraft show up? I can see them flying overhead but do not see their ADSB info.

If they do not have at least Mode-S transponder turned on then there is no way to track them.
