What do you mean "equipped" with MLAT? To participate in mlat calculations mlat-client has to be installed, configured and running.
For MLAT calculations a beast output with timestamps is required. Those timestamps are generated by the clock of the receiver. The clock is not real time referenced but needs a more or less stable frequency. An antenna has nothing much to do with MLAT, apart from needing acceptable reception to receive enough messages for synchronizing. Can you try and state your question more clearly? Do you know what MLAT is?
Infact, i am confused all. Most military doesnt have adsb transponder. So how all these aircrafts on this internet site. Because all of them mode-s? Or mode 1,2,3 also can be interrogated? I cant grasp how can be this
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multilateration ADSBx don't filter data - that's why you can see military and other "sensitive" aircrafts here.
Only ModeS capable transponders can be located with the MLAT system in use. You could implement MLAT for Mode C but it's impractical due to the squawk not being unique.
And so, main page tells military aircrafts can turn off mode s when there is war. But, why they dont turn off even in peace. Because enemy can save intelligence in peace time
They could use Mode 5 or DF19 which is encrypted ADS-B ... thus .. if they want to be seen they want to be seen ... https://www.telinstrument.com/avion...1-iff-and-mode-5-past-present-and-future.html
