OpenADSB is a great, great app for iOS (iPhone and iPad). I highly recommend it for the same reasons Andy mentions - let’s support the developer. I’m not affiliated with the app or the developer BTW - just a really happy user
the Custom ADSBx image will work on a B+ if you install the latest byte-code. You will have to do the update from a 3B then just take the SD and put it in the B+; and it will boot and function as it should. sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade
B+ image is out and consolidated into the ADSBx custom image. We can keep B+ specific stuff here. Right now only 2.4ghz wireless is supported out of the box but you can easily support for the 5ghz. https://www.adsbexchange.com/forum/threads/new-adsbexchange-base-image-v1-0.618988/ https://www.adsbexchange.com/downloads/adsbx-v1.28vlan.zip
I just burned the image yesterday, seems to be working, but a few questions. I W5QX do not show up on the map. Is ADSBXNAME "W5QX" ? Case sensitive? Did I miss a password someplace? The deamon.log shows errors: Jul 26 13:29:03 adsbx-custom rc.local[588]: No binary formatter available, falling back to text format Jul 26 13:30:03 adsbx-custom rc.local[588]: No binary formatter available, falling back to text format Jul 26 13:30:24 adsbx-custom rc.local[588]: Thu Jul 26 13:30:24 2018 Receiver status: connected Jul 26 13:30:24 adsbx-custom rc.local[588]: Thu Jul 26 13:30:24 2018 Server status: ready Jul 26 13:30:24 adsbx-custom rc.local[588]: Thu Jul 26 13:30:24 2018 Receiver: 56.2 msg/s received 35.9 msg/s processed (64%) Jul 26 13:30:24 adsbx-custom rc.local[588]: Thu Jul 26 13:30:24 2018 Server: 0.0 kB/s from server 0.4kB/s TCP to server 0.0kB/s UDP to server Jul 26 13:30:24 adsbx-custom rc.local[588]: Thu Jul 26 13:30:24 2018 Results: 23.5 positions/minute Jul 26 13:30:24 adsbx-custom rc.local[588]: Thu Jul 26 13:30:24 2018 Aircraft: 12 of 15 Mode S, 8 of 10 ADS-B used Jul 26 13:31:03 adsbx-custom rc.local[588]: No binary formatter available, falling back to text format Jul 26 13:32:03 adsbx-custom rc.local[588]: No binary formatter available, falling back to text format Jul 26 13:33:03 adsbx-custom rc.local[588]: No binary formatter available, falling back to text format Jul 26 13:33:29 adsbx-custom zerotier-one[591]: recv: Connection reset by peer Jul 26 13:33:29 adsbx-custom zerotier-one[591]: recv: Connection reset by peer Jul 26 13:33:29 adsbx-custom zerotier-one[591]: recv: Connection reset by peer Jul 26 13:33:29 adsbx-custom zerotier-one[591]: recv: Connection reset by peer Jul 26 13:33:29 adsbx-custom zerotier-one[591]: recv: Connection reset by peer Jul 26 13:33:29 adsbx-custom zerotier-one[591]: recv: Connection reset by peer Jul 26 13:34:03 adsbx-custom rc.local[588]: No binary formatter available, falling back to text format Jul 26 13:34:09 adsbx-custom grafana-server[583]: 2018/07/26 13:34:09 http: proxy error: context canceled Jul 26 13:34:09 adsbx-custom grafana-server[583]: 2018/07/26 13:34:09 http: proxy error: context canceled Jul 26 13:34:09 adsbx-custom grafana-server[583]: 2018/07/26 13:34:09 http: proxy error: context canceled Jul 26 13:34:09 adsbx-custom grafana-server[583]: 2018/07/26 13:34:09 http: proxy error: context canceled Jul 26 13:34:09 adsbx-custom grafana-server[583]: 2018/07/26 13:34:09 http: proxy error: context canceled Jul 26 13:34:09 adsbx-custom grafana-server[583]: 2018/07/26 13:34:09 http: proxy error: context canceled Jul 26 13:34:09 adsbx-custom grafana-server[583]: 2018/07/26 13:34:09 http: proxy error: context canceled Jul 26 13:34:09 adsbx-custom grafana-server[583]: 2018/07/26 13:34:09 http: proxy error: context canceled Jul 26 13:35:03 adsbx-custom rc.local[588]: No binary formatter available, falling back to text format Jul 26 13:36:03 adsbx-custom rc.local[588]: No binary formatter available, falling back to text format Jul 26 13:37:03 adsbx-custom rc.local[588]: No binary formatter available, falling back to text format Jul 26 13:38:03 adsbx-custom rc.local[588]: No binary formatter available, falling back to text format Jul 26 13:39:00 adsbx-custom zerotier-one[591]: recv: Connection reset by peer Jul 26 13:39:02 adsbx-custom zerotier-one[591]: recv: Connection reset by peer Jul 26 13:39:02 adsbx-custom zerotier-one[591]: recv: Connection reset by peer Jul 26 13:39:03 adsbx-custom rc.local[588]: No binary formatter available, falling back to text format Jul 26 13:39:04 adsbx-custom zerotier-one[591]: recv: Connection reset by peer Jul 26 13:39:07 adsbx-custom zerotier-one[591]: recv: Connection reset by peer Jul 26 13:39:09 adsbx-custom zerotier-one[591]: recv: Connection reset by peer Jul 26 13:40:03 adsbx-custom rc.local[588]: No binary formatter available, falling back to text format Jul 26 13:41:03 adsbx-custom rc.local[588]: No binary formatter available, falling back to text format Jul 26 13:42:03 adsbx-custom rc.local[588]: No binary formatter available, falling back to text format Jul 26 13:43:03 adsbx-custom rc.local[588]: No binary formatter available, falling back to text format Jul 26 13:44:03 adsbx-custom rc.local[588]: No binary formatter available, falling back to text format Jul 26 13:44:44 adsbx-custom zerotier-one[591]: recv: Connection reset by peer Jul 26 13:44:46 adsbx-custom zerotier-one[591]: recv: Connection reset by peer Jul 26 13:44:48 adsbx-custom zerotier-one[591]: recv: Connection reset by peer Jul 26 13:44:50 adsbx-custom zerotier-one[591]: recv: Connection reset by peer Jul 26 13:44:50 adsbx-custom zerotier-one[591]: recv: Connection reset by peer Jul 26 13:44:52 adsbx-custom zerotier-one[591]: recv: Connection reset by peer Jul 26 13:45:03 adsb Please help. You are on sync matrix with username W5QX-(last six digits of MAC address). If you can't see your pin on coverage map please remove privacy option from script.
I really need to remove those errors. Ignore the "Jul 26 13:44:03 adsbx-custom rc.local[588]: No binary formatter available, falling back to text format" sudo zerotier-cli status sudo zerotier-cli listnetworks post results ..
Caused probably by server overload, be patient, nothing wrong on your side. Your feeder has to be accepted by network owner.
Thanks for the help. We have Blue Origin launching nearby. Spacecraft "fly" in the national airspace for a while, they certainly must have transponders? Any ideas? Rich
