That is one of the planes used as AF1, but it is only AF1 when the president is aboard, which he is not today. Probably touch and go practice for future trips.

When was the last time you saw AF1?

I occasionally see the planes used for AF1 flying around Richmond doing touch and go's. They'll spend a few hours doing it here at RIC then head back to Andrews.

Yes, but any call sign AF1?

The callsign for the ATC flight plan and on voice communications is still air force one ... they just don't broadcast that callsign on ModeS ... what is broadcast there really doesn't matter.
Trying to interpret it in any way is just ridiculous.

For some time AF1 used an ADS-B insted of an ModeS transponder, then that changed again.
Same for the callsign broadcast via ModeS, it's up to the secret service or whoever is in charge of airforce one to determine those details as they see fit.

i have actually seen AF1 as the callsign. i tracked both VC-25's, one left Dobbins ARB and flew over Nashville during the third presidential debate after it was over, and then, the moment it crossed over Nashville, i spotted a second VC-25 ( 747 icon ) and it said AF1 on the callsign tail code SAM 90-29000 with SAM 90-28000 ahead of it by about 30-45 minutes flight time, both returned to Andrew AFB

Yes, occasionally, but I don't believe when they are doing touch and go's it is AF1, only when a sitting president is onboard. I've also seen Executive 1 fly by, I assume it's the VP onboard then?

This is an older "AF1" apparently and not a current one that carries the Pres, but it's one of the many I see flying around RIC doing touch and go's, as they are doing now. You can see they came from Andrews and will most likely return. I also have daily sightings of C-17's and 30's, H-60's, T-38's and a bunch of others. It's nice that I'm so close to DC and Norfolk/Oceana bases where I can see and hear the sounds of freedom!!

These are what are currently skulking around the Richmond area, inclusive of the older AF1.

If the VP is flying on a VC-32 ( the US Livery of the B752 - or 757-200 ) , its typically flying under the name AF2 'Air Force 2' or as you caught it, n/a, at their discretion or by directive of the Secret Service. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_Force_Two

Executive 1 could literally be anyone among the senior ranks of the US Government or the DoD, or, is the President himself flying on a aircraft other than the VC-25 747 platform or is on his inaugural last flight after being succeeded by a newly elected president. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Executive_One

Executive 2 also applies to the VP on a civil aircraft other than a VC-32 additionally their last flight after being succeeded.

Executive One Foxtrot EXEC1F, means that the family, and only the family is present aboard the aircraft, whether its a official VC-25, 32 or civilian registered aircraft.

VC-32's are also widely used by Senators, Congressmen/women, Senior Officials, Joint Chiefs, and many Federal Offices like the FAA, DOT, NTSB, for their directors and senior staffing members for official duties and assignments.
