All, I recently found a new toy to play with. It’s an app to use with android devices called ADSB Receiver Pro HIZ LLCMaps & Navigation It’s a free app. If you have an old android phone or tablet laying around that you are not using you could recycle it into an ADSB tracker. You will need an sdr receiver and antenna to plug into it. It’s very simple to use with virtually no setup. It will output to a map and you can stream it to Avare app if you want to use it for flight purposes. The Avare app is cheap and has a lot of information. One of the Adsb receiver options is you can select to watch 1090 or 978 or both. Both is kind of a pain but it requires more work. I was surprised how many aircraft were seen while monitoring 978mhz. It also works pretty well as a mobile tracker. Spot those airborne CHP before they spot you speeding down the highway. It’s worth a look. Don.
Yeah, me too. Well, I don't use a Stratux but I do use Avare with a 7-inch tablet to display charts and approach plates. Haven't had to spend a dime on flight publications in years -- thank you, Avare. I'm sure Avare provides a good ADS-B display with Stratux (and other receivers) but I don't need that capability as my EFIS already fills my needs. One thing I really like about Avare (there are so many things) is that they don't update it every-other-day to make undesired changes like some hyper-active child (Firefox, I'm looking at you).
