Data points not in flight history?

    Hi folks,

I just recently set up feeding from my Pi to ADSB Exchange. Glad to be a part of it!

I got things running yesterday and have been mostly working throughout today (though a brief period where I was not feeding due to an issue with wifi). Anyways.. looking at some history from yesterday in which I know I had tracked a plane over the area, I noticed that none of the points I track are showing up in the flight history.

I live in an area with no other coverage, so I know that I would be the only one providing those locations. I also know for sure that I was tracking at that time, as I was viewing with a custom feed to see just the planes I was tracking (though occasionally confirm that the same planes showed up in the "Global Radar View" as well).

But going through a flights history (even for today), I see the flight path tracked before and after my location, but no points over areas that I cover, and know that I was getting hits for.

Any thoughts on why my data isn't populating the past flights data?

    Camel in a hat.

    Hi
Please deliver some more data. At the moment we know that your feeder is located somewhere "in the middle of nowhere". What is your username in MLAT feed?
This is quiet impossible to answer your question now, without some more details.
    Anyway thanks for feeding.

Hmm I'm trying to post a reply, but keeps tagging it as spam. My MLAT point is camelWatch

I've attached a screenshot of my custom feed from around 3:00am UTC (April 8th). I look at the history track for G-VBUG here (ICAO 401000) and areas where I would provide points for, between Cape Breton Island and Newfoundland, show no points (I tried to link in another reply but I keep getting flagged for spam?)

    [Edit:]
I wasn't sure if perhaps it was a known issue with custom feeds. My custom Feed port is 51131. Link to the map of the history for that ICAO and for April 8th, the flight highlighted in the screenshot, seems to be causing the spam filter to trigger.

As a new member you'll be limited a bit. Don't worry, later everything will work smooth. This kind of limitations is caused by behaviour of previous forum software.
But still not enough data for problem tracking.

For me day is over (Monday already). Maybe James will continue tonight.

I used April 8th as an example just because that was the screenshot and a clear part of the history. Any flights at all that my receiver has tracked, and which do show up in the Global feed, do not include any points from my receiver when viewed in the history. I'm not sure what other data I can help provide to demonstrate that my live data is accepted and used, but it's not being included with the historical data for a flight?

Just as a follow up, for an hour or two last night I switched from a custom feed port, to the standard (30005) port in my feeds to adsbexchange. I took note of some of the flights, and the history over the area did show points that would have been collected by my receiver. After switching back to a custom port (51131) my flights continue to show on the global and custom feed, but the history points do not get added when looking at the history for the flight. A great example of this in action is flight ICAO A2B1B8 on April 9th ( https://flight-data.adsbexchange.com/map?icao=A2B1B8&date=2018-04-09 ) on the bottom you can see where in nova scotia, under cape breton island, my receiver tracked the flight out as it went towards newfoundland until it lost reception. However on the return from Italy, as it few over there are no history points recorded (however I did see the flight showing up in the custom feed).

For some reason, be it that specific port, or all custom feeds, those points are not used as part of the history for a flight, they are only being used in the live view.

There was an error in the way the archive with custom feeds was working.

Some people complained about something dumb, some settings were changed, data was lost due to change. It's unrecoverable.

Change is reverted. Data going back to March 23rd is affected.

Lesson learned: Ignore complainers and don't try to please everyone.

    Thanks for feeding.

PS the eventual phase out of VRS, which causes 90% of the problems is hopefully coming. I am pushing hard to drop support for VRS in the next year to 18 months.
