Last night we toggled on default visibility to all detected flights (instead of just the ones that we receive flight plans for). Check your FlightAware app or see a live view by clicking the link below. What are the implications for the data-feeds that I use? Am I storing data using the right ports as only their app is affected? Thanks
Sorry, I was trying to understand if this is a MLAT type issue where data is being suppressed and the choice of data feed is important to get the complete data. It sounds if the data to their app is restricted only, thus I don't need to re-configure. So at what point in the process do they restrict data, just for the app? I asked here as I am more likely to get an unbiased answer
Whatever their business model, they are communicating what they are doing on their forum. dump1090-fa does absolutely no blocking/filtering. All that happens only on their servers. So it will affect MLAT results from FA, but only because they already got filtered/anonymized before being sent back to you. Doing filtering on your device would be a bad idea as you could easily circumvent it. The post they made refers to their map at fa .... com/live Also you are talking about a data feed, but you are not saying which data feed you are talking about. Without being precise what you are talking about, nothing i can really say. Are you talking about viewing data on your local receiver?
