New here, still trying to figure a few things out. Had a question on monitoring my feed though and my search abilities are failing me, so apologies if this has been covered. Is there an easy way to get a notification if my feed is down? I'm fairly certain once I'm done tinkering I won't pay much attention to it, so an email saying my feed hasn't been seen in > 24 hrs might be useful. Does this exist and I'm just blind today? I would like to monitor it off-box though... so my first thought was just wget the /myip page once a day and "lines out output: 0" would be a failure?
Just check the myip page. No simple way to automate it. Sometimes the myip page doesn't work because it's being worked on i think. I wouldn't worry about it, if it's set up correctly it should try to connect by itself. (If you use the adsbexchange script, it will automatically reconnect)
The Pi is going in the barn when I'm done tinkering, so "out of sight, out of mind" - could lose wi-fi. my crappy $100 router could "NAT-out" again, the heat might get to it.... some kind of alert would make me feel better. For anyone else looking, I threw this together for my Windows box that's almost always on to run once every 24 hours: or maybe not
Can't get it to post with or without the [ code ] wrap. So.... if anyone is interested, PM me and I'll send it. Quick and dirty 2 line batch file.
Not exactly what you was looking for (no warning email) but maybe you could be interested to read https://www.adsbexchange.com/forum/threads/how-to-monitor-your-feeds-from-mobile-device.621696/
