Not sure this belongs here but I was wondering why FORTE12 is not visible on the ADS-B Exchange maps but it is on FlightRadar? The FAQ says nothing is filtered here. Currently live as I am posting this: https://www.flightradar24.com/FORTE12/2acf2d4d Nothing comes up here for that call-sign of hex.
Can someone else explain what MLAT is and what limited coverage is? "that call-sign of hex" That's not a thing, if the callsign isn't in your view you can't search for it. You can always search for a hex but you don't have a hex probably. If you actually put int he hex you get this: https://globe.adsbexchange.com/?icao=ae5420
I noticed recently, on FR24, quite a few FORTExx callsigns showed up. Currently, there is a FORTE12 up that is circling over the black sea at 54000 feet. The last time, one of the FORTEs broadcasted an aircraft type, it turned out to be a Global Hawk UAV. That one took off from near Catania in Sicily, flew to Ukraine, then flew back and forth 40km from the Russian border for 20+ hours, then flew back to Catania. It seems, adsbexchange coverage in that region ist spotty, though.
FORTE is the current common call sign for any USAF RQ-4B Global Hawk, just like HOMER is for the R-135U Combat Sent, 135V and W Rivet Joint birds. No different than RCH "Reach" Callsigns for Air Mobility Command Flights that are moving troops or cargo. A few other callsigns are common and do not change either, but ill have to dig those up.
