Grey plane constantly at location

    Hi all

I've got an issue and not sure why - all of a sudden I had a couple of days where my dump1090 wasn't connecting in the morning, once restarted it did it again the next day, so rebooted again.

Now I have an aircraft constantly over the receiver location with a grey colour and the following info. it's at ground level and doesn't disappear

I've checked the flight data for this aircraft and it last flew 22 April (today) - potentially I would have picked this up with my station but why is it now constantly(past 4 days so far) showing at ground level at my location?

Apologies - I am new to dump1090 and all the terminology and stuff - but I learn quick :)

That's unrelated to the other issue.
And really it's just what you're receiving ... some sort of transponder test i'd just ignore it.

That sounds like either the SDR going bad or the SDR having insufficient voltage.
You can replace the power supply and then maybe the SDR.

What system did you start with, dump1090 isn't the most current software to run as a decoder.

Either if you want to start with a standard Rasperry Pi OS, have a look at this guide: https://github.com/wiedehopf/adsb-wiki/wiki/Raspbian-Lite:-ADS-B-receiver
(this also applies if you already have started with such an image)

Otherwise we have our custom image: https://www.adsbexchange.com/how-to-feed/adsbx-custom-pi-image/

But that's only some info, not sure what setup you're running now.

Thanks for the reply. I'll take a look at the guide you linked. I started with your custom rom and have added feeders to other providers - I just assumed it was still dump1090

I'm using a Flightaware pro stick on a usb extender. The power supply is a new official one bought a few months ago so hopefully it won't be that!

I think I'll refresh the custom rom without the other feeders and see if that makes a difference - I know they can upset each other sometimes from what I've read.

    cheers!

Well if you are using the custom image ... that's all good no need to change it.
Just because you were saying dump1090.

USB extensions are always suspect of dropping voltage causing issues.

If you set it up right it shouldn't be an issue.
