hot air balloon

    Must be a transponder problem. Maybe compare the time stamps with the distance travelled? It's a garden variety balloon: Head Balloons - AX9-118
     
  2. the other thing i dont' understand is how it turned around looped around to it's starting point. unless the wind just happened to work in their favor.

    Sometime balloons change altitude to catch directional winds. The Raven Aerostar Thunderhead balloons can reach 70K+ feet and steer by changing altitude by having a balloon within a balloon that inflates and deflates without losing helium in the process, The Raven Aerostar balloons also swing the solar panels at the same time to catch wind, and can steer quite precisely.
