I have put in a request over a week ago but did not get any response. I intend to use if for a hobby HoloLens app that is sparsely used

This is form letter I send out ...

    Greetings,

I'm currently going through 200+ requests for API keys. I simply need to verify you meet the requirements to get a key.

All Enthusiast non-commercial access requires hosting of a reliable ADS-B receiver sending data to ADSBx, including those users of LiveTraffic.

    How to Setup Receiver: https://adsbexchange.com/how-to-feed/

After you setup a feeder, you can send a screenshot of this page or you can email me the Internet IP of the feeder to verify.

    https://adsbexchange.com/myip/

To repeat, the process for API key is as follows:

    1. Setup an ADS-B feeder.
    2. Sent me screenshot or IP of feeder.
    3. You will get API key!

Do you need a shopping list?

In which case I owe you an apology, because I didn't know that. The link just said "click here to apply for a key", not mentioning the requirement to be a feeder yourself. I seem to recall that was not necessary. Thank you very much for taking the time to clear that up!

Anyway - happy to oblige, but I first need to setup the stuff. Three questions, then
    1. I do have a couple of Raspberry PI2 lying around. Will those do as well?
    2. Is this https://www.adsbexchange.com/forum/...with-fa-piaware-3-6-3-keyboard-screen.624272/ still the preferred procedure? I think it look like you assume a lot of prior knowlegde of how to setup a PI images, and being a Windows developer, I wonder if I will get through
    3. What SDR and antenna are suggested? Can I get those on Amazon or something?
I am in Europe (the Netherlands) by the way, don't know if that's important to know)
    Kind regards,

    Joost

Sure! Glad to clear it up!

    1. Pi 2 is fine.
    2. There's no real 'preferred' method, other than feeding from a Pi. If you want to use PiAWare ... then yes .. install FlightAware PiAware then feed ADSBx using script method. If you don't care about feeding FA then use the ADSBx custom image with the dashboard. It can feed all sites.
    3. FA bluestick is the best bargain. RTL-SDR is good all purpose.

Antenna can be a variety. Depends on how much you want to spend or not. DIY cantenna works as well as an expensive 1090 omni.

Allright. I opted to use a different feed, but that died. So now want to setup a feeder after all. Can you please help me with a shopping list? I have a Pi 2 and everything, so now I need an antenna and a stick. Can you give me some reasonable advice on what to buy?. Also, I have had a look at your RapidAPI but that does not seem to work... the site down not even allow me to sign up, let alone login, or subscribe to your API

Thank you James! In the mean time, just yet, I got the RapidAPI feed working. I think this site is very susceptibele to adblockers. Only after I turned EVERYTHING off, it worked. Going to work on that first, then I am going to use your shopping list!

One question: you list two sticks. They are $1 apart ;). That suggests they are nearly the same. Which one would YOU recommend?

He listed one for 1090 MHz an done for 978 MHz.
You know which you are trying to receive, right?

In Europe, the 1090 MHz is the only thing you get from aircraft.
There you also want the dark blue filter instead of the light blue one.

The device is currently unavailable on Rasppishop as well. This is where i got mine from in July. Since then it's out of stock.
Seem to be that FA is short on devices currently.
