Hey folks, I just wanted to pass this along. I did some searching and found this image on a Reddit link and downloaded the image adsb-pvt-1.24c.zip. I formatted my 15GB sdcard that came with the raspberry unit. Unzipped the file to get the image file. I flashed the .img file using Etcher. Placed the card back in the unit and powered it on. I got a large colored square centered on the screen. I noticed the green data light was blinking in a pattern. I re-flashed the sdcard with the latest Raspbian Buster with desktop and recommended software image from the Raspberry website. Inserted the card and it did a fresh install with no problems. I would really like the ADSBx image to work. Any suggestions or could a fix be included in the next release? Thanks in advance.
Following up... I have tried the following today: flashed a SanDisk Ultra 64MB sd card with the adsb-pvt-1.24c image - No Boot tried 2 different power supplies (recommended voltage) - No Boot The only thing I can think is that my Raspberry Pi 3 B+ must have a different chip set than the other folks who may be running this particular image. I am providing links below to pictures and a video of the data light blinking (4 long, 4 short) for anyone who can possibly make sense out of what is going on. The picture of the two sdcards show the black one that came with the Raspberry and the SanDisk card. I tried another card just on the off-chance the speed of the card (Class) was the issue. Well, the website says it will accept Vimeo videos but the link option won't allow it.... https://vimeo.com/user93333986/review/345947475/08506265ef
That’s an old image that doesn’t support 3B+, you can get the newest image here on a forum in this thread. Note the link for 1.28 is down as 1.29 should be out very soon. (SORRY I can’t post links for some reason.)
K4HLW, Thanks for the reply. James got with me yesterday and I have the 1.28 image. The other image would have probably worked but some fine tuning had to be done on the boot side which I wasn't aware of but with 1.28 up an running no huge issues. I'm up and running....MLAT is working and so is the GPS. I'm working on my planes. I can see them locally at the gate/ramps but still don't seem them on the main ABSDx public feed.
I'm having similar problems with ADSBx-piaware-3.5.3-2.1.img on a 3B+. A few days ago I cobbled together Buster + dump1090 + ADSBx and got it to kind of work. I tried so much stuff out fooling around I really didn't have a good grip on what was installed. Some of the tools were clearly broken. I'm getting ready to move it off my desk and get the antenna up above the trees where is will have a better chance at hearing a load of aircraft and I want it to go in clean. I downloaded ADSBx-piaware-3.5.3-2.1.img, wrote it to a 32 GB SD card using Balena Etcher. Etcher says it copied and verified OK but when I loaded the SD card back in the Pi, it wouldn't boot. 4 long flashes, pause 4 short flashes, long pause, repeat. The release info says that ADSBx-piaware-3.5.3-2.1.img is an image of piaware with ADSBx stuff added in. Just what I want. Anyway, didn't work so I got the new piaware-sd-card-3.7.2.img and put that on the SD card and it works. <Grrr> Not exactly what I want. Can anyone suggest where to go from here? Is there a patch to fix the boot issues with ADSBx-piaware-3.5.3-2.1.img? Can I add a ADSBx feeder and tools in to the running piaware-sd-card-3.7.2.img? Is there a back version of ADSBx-piaware-*.img that works with the 3 B+? A lot of the how to info seems to be 3 or so years old. Thanks, Bill
https://www.adsbexchange.com/forum/...ge-base-image-v1-0.618988/page-21#post-635194 This is a link to the current ADSBX image 1.28. Instructions for the image are at the start of that thread. What's the problem with starting with a fresh Buster image? First dump1090-fa install: https://github.com/wiedehopf/adsb-scripts/wiki/Bundle-install-for-dump1090fa Then adsbexchange feed script: https://github.com/adsbxchange/adsb-exchange#ads-b-exchange-setup-scripts-airplane Optionally some graphs or an improved local map: https://github.com/wiedehopf/graphs1090#graphs1090 https://github.com/wiedehopf/tar1090#tar1090
Don't use that old FlightAware image. Check the forum post if you insist on using that broken image. https://www.adsbexchange.com/forum/...e-working-mlat-requires-manual-update.618956/
Working now. Thank you Weidehopf and James. Moved the receiver from the desktop to the patio and now I'm receiving aircraft up to 250 miles. Hoping to do better when I get the antenna up on tower (47' AGL). - Bill
