another one flying. are these military? Doesn't look like it but they got permission to fly over Smokey Hill Bombing Range. https://globe.adsbexchange.com/?icao=c07b75
Those are Canada's aggressor aircraft, I've seen them working out of Miramar when some CF-18's were out of there. https://www.airport-data.com/aircraft/C-GUTO.html
They're former military pilots flying foreign military planes, purchased by a US Company that performs aggressor rolls. Draken International is another company, they were always flying at Nellis AFB. They have F-1's, L-159 Honey Bagers and A-4's Top Aces is a new company out of Tucson AZ I believe, they just bought a bunch of older F-16's as well. https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zo...ivate-contractor-to-acquire-f-16-fighter-jets
Simulated opposition aircraft. "Red" as in the former Soviet Union. These civilian aircraft also operate to test and calibrate new radar systems. Sometimes they are used as cheaper alternates to "front line" aircraft to allow pilots to accumulate flight hours at a cheaper cost.
i was going to say "red air" made me think of Russia or China. so military pilots use the contractor's planes to fly at cheaper cost? is that what you're saying? Does the US military do that? I was hoping to see these aircraft at an air show. we have two air shows coming up in September in KS. one at McConnell AFB at Wichita and the other at Kansas City.
Sometimes the contractors (mostly ex-military pilots) fly the planes, other times current US Military pilots fly the planes. They are basically rentals. I'm in Hawaii and PNGF has two old Hawker Hunters N324AX and N327AX that are used for radar tests, and sometimes for some pilot training.and other missions. They are owned by Hunter Aviation International, which is a subsidiary of a Canadian company Hunter Aircraft - OUR AMAZING HAWKER HUNTERS (lortieaviation.com)
