Was working OK earlier today but now VRS refusing to connect - the problem might be my end so any confirmation one way or the other would help

    Using port 32010

    Thanks,

    Paul

Same problem here. Feeding from VRS to Adsbexchange is working, but the other way around is not.

It was. Server lost power in data center and had to be rebooted.

Back working now but not sure what to do with it long term.

We are going to need to whitelist users on it at some point or figure out a way to prevent commercial abuse. I've already caught a few commercial operations using the TCP and trying to sell the data.

I've noticed that the 30s feed refreshes way faster than every 30 secs. Do you observe the same behaviour? is it normal?

30 seconds is 'max age' of a position.

ah, ok. I understood from explanations that it was the refresh rate to avoid wasting bandwidth and CPU resources.

The refresh rate prevents people with potato internet connections from using the 32001 or 32005 and not having enough bandwidth. I setup IP bans if people start queuing up piles of messages, just bans their IP.

    For 32030 - Format AircraftJSON

Data is sent every 30 seconds, max message age is set to 60 seconds.

    Send every

The number of seconds between transmissions of changes to the aircraft list. Only enabled when Format is set to a format that sends aircraft lists instead of aircraft messages.

    Max message age
If the link between the rebroadcast server and the other program is over a slow connection then messages can be queued up for transmission over the link for quite a while. This value tells VRS how many seconds you are willing to leave messages queued up for.

    Hi,

I guess it is down again. My VRS is no longer showing messages coming in.

I used to be seeing messages coming in at a shorter interval than every 30 seconds (Every 4 or 5 seconds). It does not match what is explained above.

Same here Oliver, it has been showing as connected and test connection comes back as ok, but no data. Tried 32001, 32010 and 32030. Guess we wait and see.

I've noticed port 32001 is running at 5 second updates instead of 1. Is that going to be permanent?

3 seconds max actually.. and yes most likely since people with potatoes keeping trying to use the 1 second feed and the system bans them when they plug up the queue - then they complain and I have to explain that using a potato is unacceptable ...

I've never understood why anyone needs a feed updated that often, 10 seconds is more than ample, even 20 of 30 seconds is good enough for most purposes, even if your trying to visually spot an aircraft.

That's why I turned it down to 3 seconds of updates .. a lot of 1 second updates connections can't handle the bandwidth during peak periods - it hits well up into 10MB/s

Looks like the feed is unstable again since 11 Jan ~10:00.
