So we're about 20 NM south of Andrews AFB as the Dodo flies, and are under only a rarely used arrival corridor which is used only in low IFR conditions. So imagine my surprise and 5 year old-esque glee when I was about to arrive home after that evenings walk of our dog, looked up, and could basically count rivets on this VC-25 flying directly over my pimp pad (house). I've never seen either of those aircraft flying at an altitude so low, which I would learn later that night was no more than 1,800 MSL. I waved just in case Uncle Joe was looking out a window wondering why some guy with orange hair was acting like a baboon shot with an adrenaline dart. I have no idea what they were doing that low eating poo-tons of JP-8 more than even a few thousand feet higher. As far as Uncle Joe waving at me, flipping me off, or flushing the blue juice on my house, it was a dream for another day. That day must have been "Touch and Go's At Langley" Day, and I'm not sure if the old man would be willing to sit in the center seat and critique everything the pilots were doing. I have the screenshots, but I also got a video which makes the flyover look like they were up at 35,000'. It was far more swell than the stupid video shows. That phone will be punished, and shall never fail another airplane nerd. May God have mercy on it's soul.
i saw that VC-25 up myself, and it was nothing but pattern flights, so, was probably just command crews getting hours in for their monthlies or training new command crews.
They've come up to KPSM a few times and work the pattern for a good hour. Back on 8/3 was their latest visit. He did some major combat turns to land which was amazing. Sucks the sky was so hazy with the smoke from out west.
