Well - Not sure whats happening now. MLAT is handshaking with ADBSExchange !! and MODESDECO2 has crashed !! so I am going to shut down and restart everything hopefully in the right order. Bit concerned that it may still need an Internet connection when out in the field which was the whole reason I wanted to work from a dongle !! Perhaps I have missed something along the way !!
Hmm ? Restarted everything but the MLAT keeps timing out from connection to ADSBExchange server. Nothing crashed as yet but VRS not showing anything in browser map. MD2 shows aircraft that VRS has picked up but I cannot set MD2 up the way I can with ADBSExchange ? Not sure if I need MLAT ?
OK got that - will setup a single script to start as above. Whats fascinating is I am in my house and the dongle is seeing aircraft all around upto 30 miles away. Should be brilliant outside once its working properly. Calling it a night now as brains gone dead. Thank you for your patience and excellent help. ADBSExchange was a very good choice.
Set everything up as per instructions but without an internet connection as thats how I will need to work while in remote areas without Internet signals. Unfortunately, although the dongle reported aircraft through VRS I could not get them onto any map to view. Once the internet was turned back on then I could see the aircraft on the modesdeco browser but not ADSBExchange. Pity really after all your help. I really thought we had the answer. It seems so close and yet !!
I see that VRS may be replaced with http://flightprediction.com. Just checked it out and presume it will send the data to ADSBExchange as the map is very basic with no settings so far.
I see one solution for you, download from https://www.jetvision.de/manuals/rtl1090.beta3.zip Run it instead of modesdeco. It works without internet access. Can't paste screenshot - no empty space on server.
Ok now got RTL1090 running eventually. After a few changes now seeing raw feed and VSR showing aircraft tracked. Internet is off however the only thing I see in the browser on port 30003 is the same raw data. Other ports shown in RTL1090 don't connect. I have also turned MLAT off as not sure why I would need to feed back to the ADSB servers which requires Internet connection. If I run VSR VirtualRadar nothing happens unless I turn Internet back on and then I get the map but no aircraft connections. So I am now getting loads of GB aircraft feeds from the dongle which is great I just need to "feed" them into the ADSBExchange browser locally and I will laughing Presumable I can do a once only map download so I don't need to connect to the Internet. Having done a little bit of research it would seem my Linux server might be a better option however its a bit overkill to carry in the car with screen keyboard and power supply !! Unfortunatly I need windows 10 on my laptop for other programs that are not available on Linux. Suppose I could get another laptop and load Linux but again thats very overkill. !!
It has scope function which can be detached. It's simplified map you can use for tracking without internet. Other ports/formats can be enabled in config (switch in top part of window - port numbers are fixed - see wiki).
HI, I'm new to the forum and I'm from Italy I followed the above instructions to connect my RTL2838UHIDIR dongle with modesdeco, vrs, and mlat client all on windows 7 Everything works! including feeds and MLAT connections with adsbexchange
