MLAT Regions and splitting countries...

Now that I finally got my MLAT feed running well, I was wondering why several potential nearby peers were not included, and I realised that Denmark (where I live) is both listed explicitly in Region 4A ("Netherlands, Belgium, Northwest Germany, Denmark") but is also part of Region 5A ("Nordics, Eastern Germany, Eastern Europe, Russia" -- Denmark is part of the Nordics/Scandinavia).

I'm on the island Sjælland, where the capital København (Copenhagen) is, and apparently that part of Denmark is considered more a part of the Nordics than a part of Denmark :) In fact, it looks like most parts of Denmark, such as Sjælland, Lolland, Falster, Bornholm as well as the northern part of Jylland (and possibly also Fyn) are part of 5A, so from the Regions listed above, only the middle and southern most part of Jylland are part of the Region that has Denmark listed.

So 12 Danish MLAT stations are currently NOT part of Denmark (they are in 5A) whereas only 4 MLAT stations are part of Denmark (they are in 4A).

Should the Region names perhaps be reconsidered (4A could include "South/Middle/West Jylland") or should all of Denmark rather be part of 5A and then Denmark removed from 4A? Or should all of Denmark be in 4A?

It's a headache and there is no good solution for splitting MLAT zones.

    No, I guess not.

But maybe the naming could be changed at least. I find it weird that 75% of the MLAT stations in Denmark are NOT part of the Region 4A that includes Denmark... So at least the name could be something along the lines of what I suggested, maybe? Or alternatively, keep Denmark in 4A and change 5A to something like "Nordics (including Eastern parts of Denmark), ..." or some such -- similar to how it's done with Germany? Or change 4A to say "Western parts of Denmark"?

Yes, it looks much better now, and all of Denmark is now in the same region -- which also makes a lot of sense geographically, looking at the map :) Plus I got some some new peers too :)

Maybe the description of region 4A should be updated accordingly (just delete Denmark there) -- if you have a little extra time one day and if no-one complains (or it could be deleted in total, as you said).

    Thanks for the quick response!
