I've been an aviation enthusiast going back decades. I finally got a Pi and receiver and got it set up. I had the smaller antenna, just with the PI on my desktop at home. I was surprised at how well it worked, received from about 60NM. Got a full wavelength antenna, BIG difference. I'm about 148M elevation, so far, the greatest distance is about 120 NM. That's primarily due north. Seeing the pattern of aircraft and their elevation, I can see how nearby hills affect what I can see. Roger

Yeah, I'll have to check the details, I was assuming it was full wave, but haven't looked into colinear antennas, regardless, it's working great.
