Yes, I will admit to being an old dog and don't learn new tricks as quickly as I used to. My biggest hurdle will be getting the whole Pi 4 working. Completely new to this world, though know enough Linux commands to get me by in that world.
Here is my basic question to get the ball rolling. Is there a "block diagram" of how this all works? I am getting confused as to what all the parts are (software parts mostly).
    1. Antenna and SDR Dongle - check
    2. Have a Pi 4 sitting there with OS on a card plugged in and ready to turn on (have not done so yet) - check
    3. Once I have that up do I then need receiver software (ie. PiAware) loaded and THEN the adsbx-buster loaded?

Any assistance or pointing in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!

You don't need to feed flightaware to feed us (piaware is the feed client used by flightaware).

    https://github.com/wiedehopf/adsb-wiki/wiki/Raspbian-Lite:-ADS-B-receiver

This should give you all that you need.
Basically you need a piece of software to talk to the SDR and do some work deciphering 1090 MHz.
Then you need our feed client, that's it.

adsbx-buster is a complete sd-card image you would write to the sd-card, it would completely replace the current OS on the RPi and once you configure it (possible in windows after writing the sd-card) you can just turn it on and it starts feeding data.

The choice is yours really :)

Thanks so much for NOT telling me I should know this and figure it out myself! Way too many forums like that! So best option might be to use a new and different SD Card and save the one the came with my RPi "kit" ad save it for another project. It has the OS on it already.
Once I get that up and running I might want to try to learn how to feed multiple systems. LOVE what I see here on ADS-B Exchange, but also like a few features of FR24 site and app. Love to hear the airline "chime" sound out of the app when the local sheriff helicopter goes up!

Thanks again and you "might" (ok, you will) be hearing from me again.

ok, got a "test version" (tiny antenna sitting in a window) going with little to no issue using the adsbx-buster image. Thanks!
Now quick question on the FR24 feed mentioned here: ......wiki/Raspbian-Lite:-ADS-B-receiver#10-feed-fr24-optional
I don't see anywhere in there where I tell the feeder to tell FR24 who I am to associate this with my FR24 account. Hey, If they offer free upgrade to give them data, I'm taking it! :)
    Am I missing something?

Did you do all the steps?
It asks for your mail address for the --signup step.

The question is ... will you actually use the "free upgrade".
(anyhow we don't dictate what feeders people run .. try not to break it)
