Hey guys. I have been following this site now for a couple of weeks and love the fact that I can finally see military and interesting aircraft. I used to hate when something would fly over and I'd run to get my binoculars or camera and miss it and then just sit here wondering what it was. Now I can track it so this is great. I am very interested in feeding but I am also not very tech savvy. Is this an easy set up for a beginner? If something flies over now and I can't see it on the map, will I be more likely to see it since I'm feeding and not leeching? And I think the wife is also worried that we will have some alien antenna in our backyard or on the house and she has already questioned me about watching a French air force a310 pass over on the screen. If it was really all that interesting. And yes yes it was. Thanks guys.
Hi How do you want to feed? From VRS, Raspberry PI? Please describe it bit more detailed. You can find basics under "How to feed". It is really difficult to answer your question. Yes, you'll need antenna, at the beginning maybe small 1/4 wave spider or "cantenna" (each element ca. 69mm long). For sure you'll need an USB stick (cheapest for 8 USD). Cable with plugs will cost few dollars too. Please tell us what do you have now, we'll try to suggest best solution. BR Marcin
Hey. So to answer the last question first. I have nothing so far. I'm just following along here on this website. I read the how to feed. And by the sounds of it the raspberry Pi with the antenna and the usb stick is the way I would go. Just to get myself started unless anyone has done this and then realized it's better to just start off a little bit bigger. I just wanted to know what more I would get out of everything having that set up as opposed to what I am already getting from this website and what does it bring to this website to have another feeder. I seriously know nothing about all of this but I love it and if I can help in any way , I want to.
Hi You won't get anything more from this website, it is available with full functionality for everyone (only one gift is: you'll get back MLAT data calulated with your feeder). By feeding data you will improve coverage/quality of MLAT data. BR Marcin
Hi First of all buy something like that: https://www.dropbox.com/s/4ridl15ndg1v8ix/IMAG1003.jpg?dl=0 Later I would suggest Flightaware ProStickPlus. If you can't find Windows feeding software, please let me know' I'll send you links to download.
