Seems someone in the Chicago area has hijacked my custom port again. Sigh. Not much I can do about it. Just want to rant/brainstorm a bit. Love the sight, and am having fun. But I'm honestly a bit too small and have other issues in life to chase this hard. Is there a way to secure the ports w/ credentials? Not sure if it would be worth the hassle though. But here's my idea. I wonder if there's an opportunity for ADSB Exchange to generate some revenue. If you want a custom port to view what you're submitting, you pay a fee that increases with the number of receivers covering the same area. First 4 can feed for free (enables MLAT), then the next few pay a one time nominal fee to get on as backup and anyone after that pays a monthly fee. Would encourage folks in remote areas (Winnipeg ?!?) to setup feeders, and would tap in to monetizing supply/demand in higher density areas (Chicago). Anyway, just a braindump, rant, thought. Don't want to stir up too much controversy.
Just let it do it's thing. Data isn't lost ... it goes over to 30005 ... But yeah I agree .. people just pick a port even if it's taken .. and start feeding .. le sigh ..
