FlightAware Pro Stick Plus v1.0 R820T2 + RF + 1090 mhz Filter running on Raspbian Stretch I have this setup running right now and am I able to feed ADSBExchange and Radar24 or any other site with this setup? If so, is just an add on or do i have to start from scratch(remove flightaware feeder)? I bought this setup before i knew about RTL-SDR or any other feeders. Im not impressed with FlightAware. I do own a couple of RTL-SDR's now but I am using them for other things. Im really hoping the Pro Stick can feed other sites.
You can add feeders to your existing setup. FA Pro+ is one of the best dongles. On FA SD card you can expect some difficulties with installation of additional feeders.
ok, so do i just take SD card and format it then use etcher to install ADSBx Piaware on it and fire up the Raspberry pi with the dongle and claim it on flightaware? Kinda new to Raspberry Pi.
ADSBx Piaware image needs some modifications (problem with altitude calculation, solution in other thread). You can use ADSBx v1 image with Grafana dashboard and add FA feeder or burn fresh Raspbian to card and install adsb-receiver project: https://github.com/jprochazka/adsb-receiver (automated install, selection of decoders and feeders - easy to install).
Will the piaware and dump1090-fa on this adsb-receiver 2.6.3 image effect what’s being sent to adsbexchange? Will it not send blocked planes to you? I really want an unfiltered feed, If that makes sense?
Any kind of dump1090 is receiving/decoding all data. Feeders are sending those data to servers. Services like FA, FR24 etc. are filtering data available to public, ADSBx not. Feeding ADSBx makes sense! Your unfiltered data will be available to you and community.
@MDA is correct, as it stands right now FA, FR24 doesn't block traffic at the Pi feed. They need that data to sell to the owners of the planes that pay them to be blocked. They hide the data from the public and I believe they hide/obfusicate the MLAT data that comes back to your Pi.
@James So i installed the adsb-receiver project you had recommended and I would like to claim my site. How do i go about that?
What do you mean claim? ADSBx is not FlightAware, there are no feed dashboards, leaderboards, circle jerks, dongle dangles ... ssh into your Pi htop hit f5 to group processes see the scripts running ... Message me your IP if you want me to check if we are getting data
https://adsbexchange.com/how-to-feed/custom-feed-how-to/ Custom port maybe? But again .. not necessary .. email me and I'll assign you a port james at adsbexchange dot com
Oh that was @MDA .. you are on your own if you used that jproxacha project. IP and htop above I can still check, but as for troubleshooting images - I learned that it's easier just to not do it after spending 12 hours messing with a FR24 image
