On the http://adsbx.org/sync/3A/ page it invites you to seach for a feeder but in the list shows 'receiver' names.

I am assuming these are one of the same however, I am not sure how these names are assigned. In the mlat client script in the home directory it has an entry under 'user' so am a little confused if user, feeder and receiver are all actually the same result.

Are you using the adsbx image? if yes then: The name has to be edited at "adsb-config.txt" on /boot directory. You have to change the name and the coordinates there. And if you want your mlat dot on the mlat map to be visible, you set the "privacy" to "no" it will be "yes" by default.

Not using ADSBx image, using Flightaware image and the ADSBx feeder script.

At installation I entered lat/lon/alt and a user name - all these details appear on a script file in my home directory which seem to be passed to the mlat-client

Yeah so search for that username.

Show the output of this command:

    pgrep -a mlat-client

It will show all relevant information.

If i'm not mistaken, some of the mlat servers aren't really stable and might not really let you connect.
Especially the british server so most likely that's the problem.

I had a problem with my setup, eventually showed up on the sync page but following day disappeared again.

Without a custom port unsure how to confirm data being sent. The adsbexchange.com/myip shows data but I don't think that differentiates between data for FA, FR24 or ADSBx

ADSBx is checking their servers for data connection coming in from your IP.

It couldn't possibly know about the state of your other feeds.

Thought it was checking info from port numbers or dump1090 so wasn't sure. The background activity can be a complete mystery with new, established or related connections, I probably have about a 5% idea what is going on
