Noticed MLAT vanishing for the sporadic MODE S military low level flights in southern sectors of Europe´s largest and unique Military Variable Profile Area ED-R 401 that stretches from the Baltic Sea down to Berlin.
I think it´s due to the region setup. With the current region setup, the southern sectors of the above mentioned zone, sectors BASIC 1E, BASIC 2E and MORE 111 and 112 ( see https://edr401mvpa.files.wordpress....-mvpa-ne-18-4-2019-lt-milais-gemil-flip-1.jpg ) are basically cut off from low level MLAT due to very poor MLAT coverage by too few stations in the area to both sides of the wall. It used to be better. My question is: are MLAT on globe map calculated "inter-regional" or is there no MLAT calculation going on in regional boundaries? From long standing observation, feeders in the Berlin area seem important to pick up low level flights in the southern sector of the zone. ADSBX is the only network that provided good public coverage for mil flights within the zone´s boundaries. Since MODE S active flights have become very sparse, due to the apparent new NATO doctrine to turn off MODE S transponders in active training patterns in MVPA NE and some other parts of Europe, good MLAT coverage for the rare legs where MODE S is turned on has become more important to at least plot an average history for mil aircrafts. I know servers can´t cope etc. and there is always a cut-off somewhere. Nonetheless wanted to point to the suspected specific shortfall here (since I don´t know whether MLAT gets calculated inter-regional). Maybe something can be done at some point. Thanks.

This should be a bit better and probably spreads the load more evenly anyhow.
