One feature I use a lot on both my own VRS setup as well as the now deprecated VRS feed here was to place all military aircraft at the top of the list (sorted by the Civ/Mil column). Is there any way to replicate this in tar1090?
I also would like to be able to the list too, however have a question re the buttons on the map. They are great on the laptop, but when out I use my phone I find them extremely small, especially to make aircraft symbols/tags larger. It there could be a solution to this it would be much appreciated.
You will just have to use the filter for military planes for the time being. Making it work on mobile is not easy and i'm by no means an expert on this, maybe i'll find a possibility to improve that.
Hi wiedehopf, are you able to get the A340 and A380 silhouettes from the legacy adsb site, see attachment? Hopefully the answer is yes and and then they can be used on the tar1090 site to replace B747 silhouette on A340 and A380 flights. Thank you in advance psimpson
That's a real shame. When i view A380 and A340 flights on tar1090 its very obvious a B747 aircraft silhouette. It would be nice if you could reconsider your decision. Thank you psimpson
I have to say I find the new design way more difficult to use and especially use quickly if something is going over. I used to use this on my iPhone but the new design really isn't very mobile-friendly. I am also finding the old map had the nice pictures for the aircraft but now they tend to be the basic image of what it should be. It's such a shame it's turned this way as for me it's not really usable.
Its early days for the tar1090, but i do hope they get the A380 & A340 silhouette from the legacy site, as the standard silhouette is B747 for 4 engine aircraft see below. When i view an A380 or A340 flight on the radar it would be nice to see those aircraft like it was in the legacy site. Here,s hoping psimpson
Hi wiedehopf you seem like a nice helpful person. I am really impressed with the new adsbx tar1090 which you have put together and is a top radar which i spend many hours getting viewing pleasure from. The only thing i would like to ask you very nicely to change is to get rid of using B747 icon for A380 & A340 flights. On the old radar they had A380 & A340 icon see my above attachments, but for whatever reason these have not been carried over to this new radar. With the A340 being one of my favourite airliners, it looks rather odd seeing a B747 aircraft icon. You only need to use one A380 & one A340 silhouette from the old radar, i.e.one colour white, so you don't have to have many different colour icons of the A380 / A340. If you could do this you would make me a really happy man. Thank you in advance psimpson
That's the 3rd time you asked. And my stance is that it's not necessary. A350 and B777 don't have different silhouettes. B737 and A320 don't have different silhouettes. A340/B747/A380 won't get different silhouettes either. Now for the final time: Not gonna happen.
A350 and B777 don't have different silhouettes correct B737 and A320 don't have different silhouettes correct Same for old radar for the above but those aircraft icons are not modelled on a particular aircraft type. where in this case you clearly have a B747 icon. I must say i am very disappointed, i thought you would take on board peoples request and try to help.
hey there, new forums guy, moderate ADS-B map user, is it possible to add the information that was on the recent old map, im having a brain fart at the moment, but there was information on the old map that is now missing on the new map that was quite pertinent.
When I have the tar1090 map and sidebar visible on the same screen, the sidebar shows Flag / Ident / Type / Squawk / Altitude etc - Is it possible to get the aircraft registration shown in the Ident column instead? If so how can I do this? Many thanks and I appreciate all your hard work on this great site.
