I love it! and ESRI can go find business elsewhere, while they are a good company, their resolution was quite low when you started to get a eye point at less than high altitude flight levels.

Hybrid is my favorite for now. ive checked all three, and they are very nice.

MapTiler very very likely isn't gonna stay.
    That's why it says testing.

  3. I notice it's really blurry when I zoom in. It must be low resolution. makes it hard to see the planes at the airports. I hope he can find a better map.

It's limited in zoom on purpose.

They are likely going away. Not as expensive as ESRI thankfully, but the only way to keep them is to likely restrict to feeders and those willing to pay for access.

OSM Charges for map tiles? while being a open source?!?!?

i might nuke my OSM account then..... open source is open source for a reason

OSM provides "free" tiles servers, and ADSBx maintains a OSM mirror cache. Nothing is free. ADSBx is not free to operate. OSM servers are not free to operate. Facebook is not free to operate. Google is not free to operate.

Detailed satellite maps are not free. There are no free tile sources, those that are available do not allow for caching, they want you to pay for EVERY users tile request - they do the caching. The cost to have satellite tiles for ADSBx is probably $10,000 to $20,000 USD a month.

Again, people mindlessly support FlightAware, FlightRadar24, etc - and FA/FR24 make millions off feeders every month, they can pay for $50,000 a month tile servers. ADSBx can't. Full stop.

ADSBx is a free tit that people disrespect and seem to think is somehow inexpensive and "free" to operate. It is not. FR24 is cult. Fuck FlightAware and their cult.

they yeeted my gold account with no explanation, so i can definitely agree with the end part.

And i never said i expected it to be free, but OSM makes no mention of premium services. hell i even asked.

i damn sure dont disrespect ADSBx, you guys are my only source after the FR24 yeeting of my paid account, to which i was in the process of setting up my own feeder. they wouldn't even honor the feeder deal.

Dont think im attacking you James, or anyone at ASDBx, im not. I just never have been told of anything payware pertaining to Open Street Maps, if that is the same OSM we are referring to. Even after asking about it very clearly in the past.

Didn't say you were. I'm saying the general consensus seems to be what I said.

my apologies then, the whole thing has thrown me off. im a map contributor to OSM and this is the first i've ever heard of premium stuff for OSM. i was under sole impression they operate off our open sourced contributions and donations.

you guys can yeet this entire topic if you wish.

I'm not talking about OSM. OSM is not satellite imagery.

okay, now i see even more clarity to my confusion. when in editor mode it is imagery.

hence i thought they had it, but its outsourced to bing ( bleh )

so, what was the tile source with the new imagery in testing?

  18. I just saw that sat images are available if you subscribe. so i did. but i can't figure out how to get rid of the ads and see the new sat images. besides using ad blocker and still not seeing the sat images. i'm logged into the ADSB Exchange store. but how do you log in on the map page?
update: after posting this i refreshed the page for probably the 20th time and it now shows "premium active"

Yeah it saves a cookie when you go to the subscription page logged in then - when you use that same browser to go to ADSBx it recognizes it and does the magic.

If you clear cookies or it expires, you'll need to login and go to the page that sets the cookie again.

  20. I ran ccleaner and now i can't get signed in. i have to keep doing those annoying pictures where you click on the stuff. i went through like 5 pictures before i gave up. I hate those things. I never could sign in on HP's website because it has those.
