Using Freedar to watch Military aircraft over East Anglia Any idea why I can can follow a Mil aircraft then suddenly it vanishes from the screen Last night watching two Typhoons over East Anglia, subsequently the pair headed over the Norfolk Coast to Liase with a Voyager Suddenly I am only left with one Typhoon, the other just disappeared Civil aircraft no problem Occurs quite frequently with Mil tracking ?
As your're using Freedar would it not be better to ask them why they are loosing aircraft on their system or what their coverage is like in the area of interest Were they showing on ADS-Bx?
As a novice at using Freedar, no idea what you mean by displaying ADS-Bx ? I will as you suggest, I contact Freedar and ask why some of their aircraft go missing. Coverage is unlikely the problem, as I had 3 aircraft on screen and only one vanished On refelection might as well ditch Freedar and use the Global Radar on this site
It's a well-known fact that military pilots can turn off their transponder if they don't want to be seen. It happens more often lately. Especially fighters.
Sorry, assumed you would know, ADS-Bx is this site ADS-B Exchange, so I was asking you if the aircraft were being shown on this site (Global Radar) Freqman has probably answered your question in any case, also if aircraft are going to refuel they quite often switch off there mode S whilst in the vicinity of the tanker. If you're interested in UK coverage you could try 360Radar, I believe they have more feeders covering the UK than Freedar
I was monitoring C130 over Lands End on Freedar when it went missing However it was on Global Radar as well as an additional one not shown on Freedar. Freedar then is unreliable, program abandoned I will now stick with Global Radar Thanks for everyone's expert advice
Freedar.uk was stealing the ADSBx TCP feed and not crediting ADSBx or helping ADSBx with feeders. I shut them off after the site owner Ben was a bellend. He's more interested in promoting his own site than helping ADSBx is exchange for the data feed. He's now 'stealing' ADSBhub feed. Ben was also recruiting his own feeders, then refused to share data with ADSBx or even ask those feeders to send data to ADSBx. Why do planes drop off? Because Freedar coverage is bad without ADSBx.
James, Contacting their help line ( presuably Ben) met with total indifference when I asked about vanishing aircraft Replies like " out of range of transponder" - What over Suffolk ? I notice on ADSBx when filtered to Military, it displays Guernsey Aircraft ( 2-ABCD) Solved by filtering out (2- ) registrations
