im considering building a dual band pi solution built around a uavionix PingUSB receiver i happen to have. To date the only way i know how to feed the data is via VRS. Has anyone looked at other feeding solutions for this hardware? For those who are wondering why i choose this unit its because I curently use the hardware to track our aircraft when flying around our facility.
What format does it output data? VRS does nothing special. When you setup the receiver in VRS what format do you set? Beast/AVR Basestation send beast/avr raw to feed.adsbexchange.com port 30005
I guess the only option is to rebroadcast compressed VRS. http://www.uavionix.com/support/pingUSB-vrs-setup/
As far as i can tell there is no option in the ping app other then the port it outputs to. On the VRS side you set it to compressed VRS.
PingUSB is more expensive than Pi3 kit with 2 sticks and 2 antennas (if you really care about 978). But you alredy have this stuff. Only way to feed ADSBx is rebroadcast server using Compressed VRS.
Agreed, will most likely move from pingusb to pi based solution which offers more fexability. Its just easier from a buisness purchasing perspective to buy whole products then justifing buying parts. Corporations are not know for flexibilty when it comes to purchasing
Well, if you're an expert then there is small chance that purchase department will order what you really need (very small chance).
