Wow this is interesting. I wonder what they're up to. Ukraine is all over the news lately. So this has my interest. https://globe.adsbexchange.com/?icao=508015
Antonov jets fly heavy civilian cargo that 747's even cannot handle. This is not the first time, or the last AN-124's and even the mighty AN-225 will visit the US. they are civilian aircraft, originally built as semi-military. The AN-225 was originally built to be the Buran transporter similar to the famous NASA 747-123 that piggy backed the Space Shuttle. but after the Buran project died off, the AN-225 was converted into the worlds largest Civilian Air Freighter and Antonov made it for special purpose cargo.
That exact plane (probably even that flight) was carrying cargo for some company in Nuremberg, Germany. It stayed there for one day, then flew on to Leipzig (~250 km away), where Volga-Dnepr Airlines (one of the main operators of An-124s) has a maintenance base. When it took off from Nuremberg, it overflew my house, I was just a little too slow with the camera. Grr... ;-) The original schedule was for them to land last Sunday around 14:30 local time, I was camped at the spotter's hill east of the airport, with what seemed to be about 1000 other interested people (the plane had made the news here ;-). Unfortunately, the flight was rescheduled to a time when I couldn't be there.
