OK, I set this up thing up in 30 mins many months ago, cheap 820t, home made antenna and it has just worked. During the 112 days lockdown, I bought a blue flightaware stick, radarbox antenna. Took ages to arrive, but sat on the floor for ages. Anyway I'm running ADSBexchange image on the PI 4, uname give me 4.19.97-v71+ Question are: 1) Should I just nuke the image and start again? 2) Keep the current image and how do I migrate to the new stick 3) What files do I need to keep if I nuke, it is running off 2.4Ghz behind 2 firewalls, but would like to move into ring 1. Any links would be helpful, I'm sure I could work it out from there. Not asking for baby steps, just links or advice to help me out. Thank You.
Either use the current image or use this guide on how to set it up from base Raspbian: https://github.com/wiedehopf/adsb-wiki/wiki/Raspbian-Lite:-ADS-B-receiver You could just plug in the new SDR and it would keep chugging with the current image you have running, no urgent need to update to the current one. The rtl-sdr compatible devices all use the same driver. You might want to set the gain to 43.9 with the new gear .... or 38.6 if you care more about close by aicraft than long range. Everything seems fine on the change over, everything feeding Now for the roof It was actually easier than I expected, I thought I would be editing files etc just to get this thing working. Thank you very much
Unplug the old one, plug in the new one. Anyhow you figured that one out by now i guess You could try doing 978 with the old one if you're in the US. (not used elsewhere) But that's a bit of typing to set up so i'd recommend visiting the discord and i can walk you through it.
Not in the US anymore, I was recalled in March 2020 back to my shoebox in Australia. Life is fun isn't it? I have a life sitting in storage in LA, including a SDS200
