port is wrong, should be 41000. This port will be closed soon (already announced - no data from VRS will be accepted).
Please don't use VRS for feeding ADSBx.
pub-vrs.adsbexchange.com is firewalled now due to abuse.

Should I be using SBS Raw feed?

    CompressedVRS is being phased out.

Do you own a Pi based receiver?

No I do not, but I can get one or if you have one ready to go that I can use?

Up to you, SBS has dedicated antenna, etc? So easy to just swap out?

I can assist in setting it up remotely.

    The setup is simple.

    burn image to SD,
edit a text file if using Wifi, else plug into Ethernet
    plug SDR and antenna in
    power it

    point your VRS to it

Yes dedicated antenna (DPD) at about 100ft. Let me know what you recommend for the Pi based rcvr and I'll get it in the next few days.

    Pi 3B or B+. 3B+ is overclocked 3B with 5Ghz WiFi option.

SDR is the interesting part. FlightAware ProStick (blue) has 1090 amp and filter. Since you are UK based? If not Amazon.com!

    B+ https://thepihut.com/collections/raspberry-pi/products/raspberry-pi-3-model-b-plus
Make sure to get a good power supply, 2.5A.

We could use a Zero W if you are willing! But by the time you buy all the accessories - it ends up same price as B+ usually.

Obviously need micro SD card, 4GB minimum.

    To burn it: https://www.balena.io/etcher/

If you are linux savy - just use dd

Let me know when you have all the hardware. Send me an email and I can send you link to ADSBx custom image. I might have 1.29 done by then ... maybe ..

Thanks for this, based in Montreal. I'll look into this and let you know when I have the equipment.

A bit of linux knowledge, but I can may be work through it - if not I'll ping you.

I'm seeing the P4B is out too, any opinions on this for feeding or should I stay away from it for now?

3B is optimal, 3B+ is "more RF noisy", Pi4 is under test - seems to work slightly better than 3B+.
If you plan to use ready image buy 3B or 3B+.

Understood, thanks. Probably going for B.

Feedline is also being changed in the coming weeks to LMR600, hopefully clean up some of the loss and noise on the current feed line.

Getting such expensive feedline is not necessary, you'll most likely have better results and save money by getting an LNA.
    What is your current feedline?

You can for example get this combination:

The receiver has a builtin power supply for the LNA.
Of course you'll have to weatherproof the LNA.

There are weather proof LNAs for 1090 MHz, but they are rather expensive.
Sticking the one i mentioned into a box works well.

I already have the feedline, swapping the LMR400 to my radio antenna system and moving the 600 to the DPD ADSB antenna. I have a run of over 100ft to cover. I got a decent deal on the 600 with finished/weatherized connectors.

What sdr is recommended? I have spare RTL2832U here.

    For everywhere outside the US.

    FlightAware Blue stick
    Radarbox 1090
    RTL-SDR + 1090 LNA

You can use a basic RTL2832U - but you will need a 1090 filter and hopefully you don't have a low grade RTL $5 China SDR.

How do you feel about NooElec? Looking at them from Amazon Canada
