they aften fly similar patterns like that for mapping/surveillance - but i've never seen them do that in tandem
Saw something similar yesterday off Massachusetts. The local media is reporting a series of explosions were heard along the north shore. Maybe this was an aircraft searching. Call sign indicates it was a NOAA aircraft.
I saw something like this a few days ago in Germany. The ownership of the plane indicated a company specializing in aerial photography and photomapping. But I admit, it could be SAR as well. (Although I read somewhere the search patterns were different, more box-shaped)
im curious why 2 Canadian and a Mexican registered aircraft are doing this in tandem with two US registered aircraft. isnt that just south of Oak Ridge National Lab also?
