    Hi,

Probably a stupid question, sorry to be a bore.

Finally got my h/w today. Trying to set it up now. First problem: I have been looking at the
[WORKING] New ADSBExchange base image v1.0

page for a while but for the life of me I cannot find an actual download link. What do I miss?

    Sorry, can't post actual links.

So I am trying image 1.28 on a Pi 2. I stick in the Micro SD card and nothing seems to happen at all.
I am a Windows user, and the disk manager reports the whole SD card as 'unallocated' after flashing.
Perhaps this works only on a Pi 3?

Windows should show /boot partition only with some files on it. Check card, reflash if necessary.
Unzip file and flash .img file to card.

That is exactly what I did. And now the card is completely unreadable to Windows, while it was readable before. 2nd flash did not help either

Card can be damaged. Try to fix it with diskpart (run as admin).

Yeah. I know. But neither clean nor create partition have any effect

    Damaged card. Try another one.

Sure? Etcher writes the v1.28 file AND VERIFIES it correctly...

After writing windows should detect /boot partition. You have to access it and edit adsb-config.txt before you start feeding.
If windows can't detect it then something is wrong.

I bow to your wisdom. You were right. I have 3 PIs, all with an SD card in it. Two out of three are apparently broken. How unlikely is THAT. Moving on. THanks

I think so. This just happened ;)

    Some questions now:
    1. How I can I check I am actually feeding?
    2. Can I just unplug the pi and move it to it's proper position upstairs, or do I need it to shut down like a Windows machine. And if so, how?
    3. For the altitude: do I need the ground altitude, or the altitude of the antenna (Ground level is about 2m about sea level, antenna level is about 4-8 meter above that)
    4. For the antenna location: I can choose between free 'view' westward, but a bit lower, or a free view eastward, but higher up. The main airport of the Netherlands is westward, as you can clearly see. ATM it is in the westward position

Ah.. I see on the myip page this:
    upload_2019-10-5_10-17-49.png

and the blurred-out address (sorry a bit paranoid) is the same as whatismyip dot com says. That settles it, then? I am feeding now?

If someone would be so nice to advice me on my other questions?

    Congratulations.
    @1. go to https://www.adsbexchange.com/myip/
@2. better stop it first with sudo shutdown -h now
@3. antenna altitude in meters ASL (8), if in feet add ft suffix (24ft)
@4. Feel free to choose location which is more interesting to you

If you want to see pin on coverage map change PRIVACY to no in /boot/adsb-config.txt

    Thanks for feeding.

And yes, everything is fine, connected and feeding.

4 or 5 decimal places for latitude and longitude please, precise location is important.

I used latlong.net, gives 6 decimals for my address. I used those for my config file. So that should be okay, right?

    I'd just use this:
    https://www.mapcoordinates.net/en

It also shows you your elevation.
Just zoom in quite far and click to place the pin.

Then you just add the height of the building or structure the antenna sits on.

Okay. Updated the position a tiny bit, and added 5m to the altitude of the antenna (I actually MEASURED the height from ground level with a long tape measure) ;). Now my feed should be okay. The feeder is called Dutchy. Can you see it from your side?
