I imagine if you spent 8 hours trying to get colors :D

Should have been 8 minutes :D

Well, you can't eat a cake and have same cake.
At the moment there is no perfect solution for you.
Grafana with mutability is IMO better than SkyView without Grafana.
But this is your install and you are the boss.

Well that's the trouble with my brain. I see one shiny thing. And whilst looking at that, I discover two more shiny things. And it snowballs, like a never-ending fractal of shiny things. Then I remember about the original shiny thing that got me there in the first place, but three days have passed...

What do you think @MDA? Should I add the search and whatever just like Skyview?

Personally I prefere mutability. SkyView looks nice but doesn't bring anything extra (IMO).
But yes, please add something which allow to choose dump1090 version (mutability or FA) and then configure exporter properly.
Make it more flexible, new members will be happy (look at adsb-receiver project, there is a choice).
It doesn't bring anything extra to ADSBX but make some people happier.

HAHA .. that ... seems harder than I want it to be :D

I'll just add those filters and stuff to mutability html :D

Yeah glad he's back working on it but you see all the issues he's having with FR24 , FA, and whoever else being on that image. Not something I want to get involved with.

FR24 pushed an update - broke all the feeders - someone called them out on it - and they had to push another update or have people reimage. Blah.

Not letting these guys put a binary that runs as root and can do whatever they want when they want. Then having to be the guy who has to debug it.

I can confirm again that custom setup with mutability installed before feeders is stable. None of updates have disturbed my setups.
Of course it takes more time to install all stuff but after that does not need any extra attention.

Well, I'm still not quite winning yet. Though the cake is so close...

I'm back on the Grafana image. To clarify, everything is feeding correctly, other than the SkyView map not working. But this is fine, as all I should need to do is SSH into the Pi and navigate to /usr/share/dump1090-mutability/html/ folder where I can edit the config.js file.

And this will change the map in Grafana, and on the xx.xx.xx.xx/dump1090/ page?

But it isn't. I've made a back-up of the original config.s file in that location, and I've copied the FlightAware config version and overwritten the file. Yet the Grafana map still shows the old greyscale map.

This is the map, showing greyscale. And the config file I'm using.

do not install SkyView ... do not install Skyview ... do not install Skyview :D LOL

    Yes .. change config.js

remove the /* */ around the colors

and add back to the /* */ mono chrome

    JUST LIKE

    https://github.com/flightaware/dump1090/blob/master/public_html/config.js

You'll need to be root to save it

    sudo nano

    or sudo su

    etc etc

You make need to shift+f5 on the browser to clear the cache and grab the new config.js

Before you change something in *.js
    Clean browser cache.

Well the aircraft map is bust now. Even after re-instating the back-up I took of the config.js file and replacing the one I modified. All the files are back to how they should be, but the map is black with absolutely no data at all. Grafana is updating with data, and all the other websites are uploading. But the map is bust. I've cleared cache, rebooted, restarted. And it aint coming back to life.

I'll look at this another day. Too many shiny things, not enough cake.
